Rope lubrication measurement

 

The need

Ropes are important components in an 
elevator – in fact, there is approximately 
50 000 km of hoisting ropes installed in 
elevators maintained by Kone!
Usable lifetime of ropes is affected 
significantly by how well they are 
lubricated. Currently, recognizing the 
need for relubrication is very difficult and 
requires a service person on site.

 

The challenge

Develop a system which automatically 
inspects the lubrication of elevator rope.
